Samsung is reportedly planning to offer satellite communication support on its Galaxy S24 series smartphones next year. This comes from Samsung’s President of System LSI Park Yong-in, who revealed this information at the recent 2023 Semiconductor Expo (SEDEX) event.

While the executive did not explicitly mention the Galaxy S24 series, he did confirm that Samsung has already made technical preparations to enable communication using satellites. This strongly suggests that the Galaxy S24 series will be the first Samsung smartphones to support satellite communication.

The addition of satellite communication support would be a significant upgrade for the Galaxy S24 series. It would allow users to stay connected even in areas with poor cellular service or in the event of an emergency.

It’s worth noting that Samsung is not the first company to introduce satellite communication support to smartphones. Apple introduced this feature on the iPhone 14 series last year.

In addition to satellite communication, Samsung is also planning to enhance the graphics performance of its smartphones by improving ray tracing. Ray tracing is a feature that generates realistic light reflections in games. Samsung first introduced ray tracing with the Exynos 2200 processor on the Galaxy S22.

Furthermore, Samsung is looking to implement on-device generative AI in the Exynos 2400. Generative AI is a feature that allows a virtual personal assistant to provide concise and human-like responses, generate media (videos and photos), and more.
