Reliance Jio Launches JioSpaceFiber for High-Speed Internet Connectivity in India

Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd, the world’s largest private mobile data network, has introduced a satellite-based giga fiber service called JioSpaceFiber. This groundbreaking service aims to provide high-speed broadband connectivity to underserved regions in India. The demonstration of JioSpaceFiber took place at the India Mobile Congress, with Prime Minister Modi inaugurating the event.

JioSpaceFiber plans to launch its services across India to ensure affordability for consumers from all backgrounds. This initiative represents a significant milestone in India’s digital inclusivity efforts. Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd, currently serving over 450 million Indian users with high-speed broadband, is dedicated to accelerating the digital transformation of every household in the country.

The introduction of JioSpaceFiber complements Jio’s existing broadband services, JioFiber and JioAirFiber, to provide reliable, low-latency, high-speed internet and entertainment services to consumers and businesses nationwide. Additionally, this satellite-based network will enhance the reach and scale of Jio’s True5G network, even in remote areas of the country.

To realize this ambitious project, Jio has partnered with SES, which offers cutting-edge medium earth orbit (MEO) satellite technology. SES’s MEO constellation is uniquely capable of delivering gigabit, fiber-like services from space. This collaboration positions Jio as the sole provider of game-changing technology, ensuring scalable and affordable broadband access throughout India with unprecedented reliability and service flexibility.

Chairman of Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd, Akash Ambani, expressed his enthusiasm for this pioneering endeavor. He emphasized the impact of Jio in enabling millions of homes and businesses to experience broadband internet and how JioSpaceFiber will connect millions more, allowing them to fully participate in the new digital society.

JioSpaceFiber has already connected remote locations such as Gir, Korba, Nabarangpur, and ONGC-Jorhat, proving the service’s capability to revolutionize connectivity in areas with limited access to high-speed internet. This initiative aims to bridge the digital divide and contribute to India’s vision of becoming a developed nation.

The collaboration between Jio and SES has garnered recognition for supporting the Indian government’s Digital India initiative. The introduction of JioSpaceFiber is expected to bring about a significant transformation in India’s digital landscape, extending high-speed broadband services to previously underserved regions.
