Iran Plans to Launch Two Domestic Satellites in 2024

Iran’s Defense Minister, Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Ashtiani, has announced that Iran will launch at least two domestically-made satellites into orbit by the end of the year. Ashtiani stated that various organizations within Iran have been working diligently to manufacture satellites and satellite carriers, such as the Simorgh (Phoenix).

Despite facing sanctions from Western countries, Iran has made significant progress in its civilian space program. The country is now ranked among the top 10 in the world for its capability to develop and launch satellites.

Ashtiani also highlighted Iran’s advancement in drone technology, specifically mentioning the Mohajer-10. This advanced indigenous drone has an operational range of 2,000 km and can fly for up to 24 hours. Ashtiani commended the achievement, stating that Iran has even more advanced items beyond the capabilities of the Mohajer-10, which will be revealed gradually.

Furthermore, Ashtiani expressed the readiness of the Defense Ministry to enter the automotive industry if requested. Iran’s auto industry is the largest sector outside of oil and gas in the country. However, it has faced challenges in recent years due to illegal sanctions, leading to accumulated losses for car manufacturers and resulting in a shortage of vehicles and high prices.

With the planned satellite launches and advancements in drone technology, Iran continues to make strides in its scientific and technological capabilities.
