Globe Telecom Inc. has teamed up with Hewlett Packard Enterprise to introduce the first private 5G standalone network in the Philippines. The partnership aims to support enterprises in their digital transformation efforts.

The private 5G SA network, built with technology from Athonet, provides cellular connectivity to businesses as an alternative or complementary solution to Wi-Fi and public mobile technologies. This network offers several benefits, including enhanced security, customization, ultra-low latency, and high capacity. It is especially advantageous for mission-critical applications and can handle large-scale Internet of Things deployments.

Yoke Kong Seow, Chief Technical Advisor at Globe, believes that the private 5G standalone network brings the enterprise landscape closer to digital transformation. He highlights the surprising use cases and opportunities that 5G offers, and acknowledges the successful demonstration of the network as an innovation for Globe’s enterprise customers to experience.

Through the partnership with HPE, enterprises have flexibility in building their private 5G network. They can choose to host the solution in the cloud, acquire a complete solution including HPE edge servers and Athonet software, or simply license the software to integrate into their existing infrastructure.
