Devastation in Northern Gaza Strip Revealed by Satellite Images

The destruction in northern Gaza caused by the recent Israeli airstrikes is clearly visible in satellite images taken before and after the attacks. The images, captured by Maxar Technologies, show apartment buildings collapsed, neighborhoods reduced to rubble, and the landscape transformed into a moonscape.

In the Izbat Beit Hanoun neighborhood, four- and five-story buildings can be seen in various states of collapse. Some structures have huge chunks missing, while others are broken in half. Two large complexes lie in piles of rubble.

The Al Karameh neighborhood also shows a widespread pattern of destruction, with streets tightly packed and reduced to the color of ash. Amidst the gray wasteland, a rare white structure stands out.

The aerial bombardment by Israel has been ongoing since the conflict began on October 7, following a cross-border raid by Hamas militants. The initial raid resulted in the death of 1,400 people in Israel and the taking of over 200 others hostage. Palestinian health officials claim that over 7,000 people in Gaza have been killed since the fighting started.

The full extent of the damage caused by the airstrikes is still unknown, as they continue relentlessly. However, these satellite photos give us a glimpse of the devastation, particularly in the hard-hit northern Gaza Strip. The visuals serve as a reminder of the human tragedy and destruction that the conflict has brought upon the region.
