Wireless Logic Acquires Webbing to Expand Presence in Asian and North American Markets

IoT connectivity provider Wireless Logic has acquired US-based virtual network operator Webbing for an undisclosed amount. This marks the company’s 10th acquisition in just a few years and allows Wireless Logic to strengthen its presence in the Asian and North American markets. The deal also provides the UK firm with new eSIM provisioning capabilities.

In March, Wireless Logic announced the acquisition of Singapore-based Blue Wireless, which aimed to expand its presence in the Asia Pacific and US regions. The company also aimed to broaden its portfolio to include fixed wireless access services. In addition, Wireless Logic made several other notable acquisitions, such as industrial IoT platform enabler IoThink Solutions, IoT MVNO Mobius Networks, IoT data SIM provider Jola, and IoT MVNO Arkessa.

Webbing, which primarily serves enterprises in the automotive and logistics sectors, has been at the forefront of implementing the GSMA’s new SGP.32 standard for eSIM provisioning. This standard eliminates the need for an initial home network bootstrap to identify the correct profile to download, streamlining the process.

By adopting SGP.32, MVNOs like Webbing can reduce the extensive interconnections they need with mobile network operators (MNOs) to offer remote SIM provisioning. This results in cost and complexity reduction. Webbing’s SGP.32 solution, known as WebbingCTRL, uses the subscription manager data preparation address (SM-DP+) provisioning code to connect IoT devices to their server for eSIM activation, management, and profile swapping.

The acquisition of Webbing will expand Wireless Logic’s technology capabilities and offerings, especially as the new GSMA IoT eSIM standard gains prominence. With Webbing’s local presence and partnerships in the US and Asia, Wireless Logic will be able to provide future-proofed, flexible, and fully-redundant global connectivity via a single SIM.

Wireless Logic currently boasts over 10 million IoT subscriptions across 165 countries and has direct partnerships with 50 mobile network operators.
