Lagos State University Commended for Hosting Live Viewing of Indian Satellite Landing on the Moon

Lagos State University (LASU) has been commended for being chosen as one of the viewing centers for the live viewing of the landing of the Indian satellite, Chandrayaan three, on the moon. The commendation was made by Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, Vice-Chancellor of LASU, who was represented by Mrs. Adenike Boyo, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration).

Chandrayaan three, a satellite recently launched by India, successfully landed on the moon on Wednesday. LASU was designated as one of the centers where the landing was viewed live by school pupils. Olatunji-Bello expressed delight in being associated with the initiative, as it aligns with their focus on leveraging science and technology.

Mahesh Narasimhan, Consulate General of India in Lagos, described the landing on the South Pole of the moon as a great success and a significant achievement. He further stated that LASU was chosen as a viewing center because it is one of the great universities in Nigeria, particularly in Lagos State. Ramesh Biswal, Coordinator of the Sanyukta Bharitiya Association in Lagos, also emphasized that this achievement is not only significant for Indians but for other countries as well.

Chandrayaan three’s mission is to explore the moon and provide insights into various aspects of the lunar surface. The live viewing event at LASU allowed people to witness this historical event and gain exposure to the world of science and technology. The Vice-Chancellor expressed the institution’s willingness to continue working on mutually beneficial programs and initiatives to improve the lives of Lagosians.
