Korean Launch Company Innospace Signs Deal for Orbital Missions with Equatorial Launch Australia

Innospace, a Korean launch company, has signed a five-year agreement with Equatorial Launch Australia (ELA) to launch multiple orbital missions from the Arnhem Space Centre (ASC) in Australia’s Northern Territory. The ASC is a new spaceport, and Innospace will be the first long-term tenant and regular launcher at the facility.

As part of the agreement, Innospace will have access to a space launch complex (SLC) with two launch pads and a horizontal integration facility (HIF) for rocket assembly and payload integration. ELA will also assist Innospace in obtaining an Australian launch permit, which is expected to take between 6 and 14 months.

Innospace has already achieved success with its suborbital test vehicle, HANBIT-TLV, which was launched in March of this year. The company is now developing a range of launch vehicles capable of taking payloads ranging from 50 kg to 500 kg to a 500 km Sun Synchronous Orbit.

CEO Soojong Kim expressed excitement about securing the ASC as a launch spaceport. Kim stated that the equatorial location of the ASC, combined with the multi-launch agreement with ELA, will provide customers with greater flexibility for their launch schedules and frequent dedicated launch opportunities. Innospace aims to enable satellite customers to achieve significant innovation through their orbital launch services from the ASC.

With the first launches expected to commence in early 2025, Innospace’s partnership with ELA and their presence at the ASC marks an important milestone in commercial space exploration. As the global space industry continues to grow, collaborations between companies like Innospace and ELA will play a crucial role in advancing space technology and expanding access to space.
