Infosys Secures €1.5 Billion Deal with Liberty Global

Indian IT company Infosys has announced a major five-year deal with Europe-based telecom and communications group Liberty Global. The initial engagement period of the deal is valued at €1.5 billion (approximately .64 billion), with an option to extend to eight years and beyond. If the deal is extended to eight years, the total contract value will increase to €2.3 billion (approximately .5 billion).

Under the agreement, Infosys will be responsible for the build and operations of Liberty Global’s Horizon entertainment and connectivity platforms. Additionally, Infosys plans to incorporate its Topaz AI offerings, according to a BSE exchange filing. The collaboration is expected to result in annual savings of over €100 million for Liberty Global, including other savings and technology investments.

As part of the deal, around 400 employees from Liberty Global’s Product, Technology Development Service Delivery Group, Network & Shared Operations, and Security Groups will transition to Infosys. Liberty Global will continue to maintain control over product roadmaps and retain all intellectual property for the Horizon platforms.

This deal marks the third significant announcement by Infosys in recent months. In June, the company secured a 4 million digital transformation deal with Nordic-based Danske Bank for a period of five years. The Liberty Global deal surpasses Infosys’ previous largest deal, a .5 billion contract with global energy giant BP.

Infosys CEO Salil Parekh expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, highlighting the collaboration’s potential to provide innovative AI and digital experiences for consumers worldwide. Parekh also emphasized the trust Liberty Global has placed in Infosys and the company’s commitment to scaling operations across markets.

Overall, the agreement with Liberty Global positions Infosys as a key player in delivering advanced entertainment and connectivity services to customers around the world.
