Heliot Europe, the largest Sigfox operator in Europe, has announced the integration of its new networks in the UK and Denmark into its existing infrastructure portfolio. The Switzerland-based company acquired the UK and Northern Ireland networks from WND, a Latin American Sigfox specialist, and the Danish network from IoT Denmark earlier this year.

By incorporating these networks, Heliot Europe solidifies its position as the leading Sigfox operator in the region. The company’s infrastructure now serves 1.3 million IoT devices across Europe. This expansion also enables Heliot Europe to explore additional low-power wide-area network (LPWAN) technologies, such as LoRa and MIOTY, alongside its existing Sigfox offering.

In a statement, Heliot Europe emphasized its support for the convergence of sub-gigahertz radio protocols on its networks. The company aims to optimize its networks to meet customer-specific needs. Thomas Scheibel, the CEO of Heliot Europe, expressed his excitement about the growth opportunities presented by these acquisitions and the company’s commitment to operating the network responsibly.

Patrick Griffin, the Chief Commercial Officer of Heliot Europe, highlighted the potential for knowledge sharing and collaboration in the UK and Denmark. He mentioned the focus on innovative use cases in various sectors, including supply chain, logistics, smart cities, energy and water utilities, and facilities management. Griffin also acknowledged the UK’s role as a pioneer in IoT technology and expressed optimism about the scalability of IoT across the UK and Europe.

With this integration, Heliot Europe strengthens its position as a key player in the IoT market and expands its network coverage in the UK and Denmark.
