Frontier Communications Considering Moving Headquarters

Norwalk-based telecommunications company Frontier Communications is exploring the possibility of relocating its headquarters. The company has submitted a proposal to the Dallas City Council, requesting the designation of their McKinney Avenue offices as an Enterprise Zone Project. If approved, Frontier plans to invest million in renovating and upgrading the facility to support a return-to-office work environment. Currently, a significant portion of the company’s 600 Dallas-based employees have been working remotely.

In order to qualify for the program, Frontier Communications would need to have a total of 500 employees. However, the company has already committed to retaining and consolidating more than 600 jobs. If Frontier chooses Dallas as their new headquarters, they will also hire or relocate additional employees within the next five years.

The proposal emphasizes Frontier’s commitment to hiring individuals from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, veterans, and residents of the designated enterprise zone. If Dallas is not selected, the company mentioned in the proposal that they may consider relocating their headquarters to Tampa, Florida, although further details were not provided.

The decision regarding Frontier Communications’ headquarters will be made during the upcoming Dallas City Council meeting on August 25. As of now, the company has not communicated any intentions or plans to the office of Governor Ned Lamont in Connecticut.

NBC Connecticut reached out to Frontier Communications for comment, but they have not responded.
