Daniel Brown leads by six shots at ISPS Handa World Invitational

Daniel Brown has surged ahead with a six-shot lead at the halfway stage of the ISPS Handa World Invitational. In an event sanctioned by the DP World Tour, LPGA Tour, and Ladies European Tour, Brown reached 11 under par with rounds of 64 and 66. His nearest competitors were Alex Fitzpatrick and Angel Hidalgo at five under par. Eddie Pepperell and Connor Syme were part of a group at three under.

Brown, currently ranked 384th in the world, is hoping to secure his first DP World Tour title. Despite his substantial lead, he finds it difficult to explain his success. However, his recent performance at the Barbasol Championship, where he finished tied for seventh, has given him confidence. Brown stated that he feels like he has done enough to secure his card for next year.

Adrian Otaegui, who is ranked ninth on the Ryder Cup European Points List, joined the tie for fourth place after a 68 in the second round. Unfortunately, Victor Perez had to withdraw due to illness. The tournament is one of three remaining on the DP World Tour for Ryder Cup qualification.

The women’s event at the ISPS Handa World Invitational also serves as the final opportunity for players to qualify for Team Europe’s Solheim Cup. At the halfway stage, the top 22 players are separated by only four strokes.
