Brisanet Launches 5G Mobile Services in Northeast Brazil

Brazilian internet service provider (ISP) Brisanet has started selling 5G mobile services in certain parts of the Northeast region. The ISP has initiated sales in the cities of Pereiro (Ceara) and Sao Miguel (Rio Grande do Norte), with connectivity available at 2.3GHz in a total of twelve cities, covering approximately 400,000 people. Brisanet aims to expand its coverage to five million people across 40 municipalities by December 2023.

Brisanet acquired three 5G concessions in the 2021 multi-band spectrum auction. These include two 80MHz 3.5GHz licenses that cover the Northeast and Midwest regions of Brazil, as well as a 50MHz block of 2.3GHz spectrum specifically for the Northeast. In May 2022, Huawei was chosen as the 5G vendor for Brisanet.

This development signifies Brisanet’s entry into the 5G market and its commitment to providing advanced mobile services to its customers. With the implementation of 5G technology, users can expect faster download and upload speeds, improved network capacity, and enhanced connectivity for a range of applications such as IoT devices and smart cities initiatives.

By expanding its 5G network, Brisanet aims to enhance digital connectivity and drive innovation in the areas it serves. The rollout of 5G services will enable businesses and individuals to leverage the benefits of faster and more reliable internet connections, fueling economic growth and technological advancements.

With the initial launch in Pereiro and Sao Miguel, Brisanet is set to establish itself as a player in the 5G market in Brazil. With further expansion plans, the ISP hopes to provide comprehensive 5G coverage to a significant portion of the population in the Northeast, bringing the advantages of next-generation connectivity to more communities and driving digital transformation in the region.
