Type 2 (Mennekes): The European Union has adopted this connector as the standard for AC EV charging stations.

CHAdeMO: Although once popular among Japanese automakers for DC fast-charging, its popularity has decreased in favor of DC alternatives.

CCS (Combined Charging System): CCS is available in two versions, Type 1 and Type 2, and is used for DC fast-charging.

NACS (North American Charging Standard): Originally developed by Tesla for its own vehicles, this connector has been opened up to other EV manufacturers. Ford, GM, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, Volvo, Polestar, and Rivian have all announced plans to adopt this standard.

Finding a Compatible Charging Cable/Connector for Your EV

The type of charging cable or connector that is compatible with your EV depends on the specific model you own. In North America, Teslas use the NACS connection, while non-Tesla vehicles typically use a J1772 connection.
