The Galaxy S24 Series to Feature Two-Way Satellite Connectivity for Emergency Situations

Samsung’s System LSI division CEO, Park Yong-in, has confirmed that the upcoming Galaxy S24 series will support satellite connectivity for emergency services. This means that the Galaxy S24 phones, scheduled to be launched early next year, will enable two-way satellite communication during emergency situations.

The feature of satellite connectivity for emergency services was first introduced in Apple’s iPhone 14 series in 2022, and it is also available on the iPhone 15. Huawei’s P60 series also incorporated this feature earlier this year.

Samsung had previously announced that they had developed a technology to enable two-way satellite connectivity for smartphones. It is likely that they are utilizing the same technology in the Galaxy S24 series. However, it remains unclear whether this feature will be available on all models of the Galaxy S24 series or limited to the Galaxy S24 Ultra.

This two-way satellite connectivity will allow users to send and receive messages regarding their location and emergencies, even when they are in remote areas where cellular networks are unavailable. It provides a crucial lifeline during critical situations where traditional mobile phone networks are not accessible.

The inclusion of two-way satellite connectivity in the Galaxy S24 series reaffirms Samsung’s commitment to providing advanced and innovative features in their flagship devices. This feature will undoubtedly enhance the usability and reliability of the Galaxy S24 phones in emergencies, ensuring users can stay connected and seek help whenever needed, regardless of their location.
