Tata Communications Launches Global 5G Roaming Lab for Mobile Operators

Tata Communications has announced the launch of its global, cloud-based 5G Roaming Laboratory (Lab), providing Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) with the opportunity to test 5G standalone network use cases before introducing the service to their subscribers. This initiative aims to harness the potential of 5G to transform mobility experiences for both consumers and enterprise customers.

The 5G Roaming Lab will trial international mobile roaming experiences by closely monitoring traffic movement and network usage, ensuring the highest quality of experience for mobile phone users while they are roaming. It aims to objectively assess the performance of networks during the exchange process, including onboarding and internet trials on the high-speed, reliable, and low-latency 5G standalone network.

Safety is a core focus of the new 5G Roaming Lab, which is equipped with advanced server applications that provide high-speed and seamless 5G roaming connectivity, along with network security measures. This agility and security are essential as the adoption of 5G continues to grow globally, with GSMA predicting 5 billion 5G connections by 2030.

Tata Communications is a global leader in Mobile Roaming Services, having carried 2G/3G/4G roaming signalling services in over 200 countries. The company aims to ensure that MNO customers receive reliable and proven services through its 5G roaming testing capabilities. By making these tests available across different geographies, MNOs gain greater flexibility in delivering superior and agile services to their subscribers.

Mysore Madhusudhan, Executive Vice President of Collaboration and Connected Solutions at Tata Communications, emphasizes the importance of connectivity in today’s fast-paced digital world. He explains that fast, secure, and continuous internet access is crucial for both individuals and enterprises. Madhusudhan believes that the introduction of the 5G Roaming Lab will accelerate the adoption of 5G, enabling this generation to progress faster than its predecessors.
