As part of the fast rollout of True 5G services in Odisha, Reliance Jio has declared the precincts of Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan Deemed-to-be University (SOA) as the first 5G campus in the state. This is part of Reliance Jio’s efforts to harness the potential of 5G in the field of education.

For students’ high data requirements and usage, Reliance Jio has ensured seamless 5G connectivity on the campus. Multiple 5G network sites have been deployed at major educational centers to guarantee the best user experience.

SOA Vice-Chancellor Prof Pradipta Kumar Nanda expressed his belief that this initiative would greatly benefit the university’s students, particularly those pursuing courses in healthcare and agriculture.

During an interactive session with students, the Jio Odisha team explained the various benefits and potential applications of 5G, with a focus on digital learning, collaboration, and knowledge sharing. They showcased the uses of 5G through live demonstrations and video presentations, highlighting the growth opportunities in e-governance, education, automation, artificial intelligence (AI), gaming, healthcare, agriculture, information technology (IT), and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

Prof Nanda also mentioned that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) had been signed between SOA and Jio Platforms (JPL) for the establishment of a 5G Lab in the university. This collaboration took place during the launch of 5G services in Odisha in January of last year.

The program held on August 23 was attended by Prof Santosh Kumar Rout, Dean of Institute of Agricultural Sciences, Advisor Prof Bijay Kumar Sahu, and Prof Jyoti Ranjan Das, Dean of Students’ Welfare.
