Microsoft has announced that it will no longer allow Xbox users to use unapproved accessories with their consoles. The new policy, set to take effect on 12th November 2023, aims to block “unauthorised third-party accessories.” Users who plug in certain devices may have already received a warning message on their dashboard, informing them that their device will be blocked by “error 0x82d60002” after the policy is implemented.

To comply with the new policy, users are advised to return any unauthorised accessories and seek information from the store or manufacturer. However, the message may vary depending on the region.

According to sources, Microsoft is looking to expand its program for “approved third-party wireless Xbox controllers,” as most of the current options are wired. This suggests that more wired third-party controllers may become available in the future.

Unfortunately, some brands are already experiencing difficulties due to this new policy. ‘Brook Gaming,’ a brand known for its third-party accessories, has encountered issues with devices like the Wingman XB 2 converter and XB Fighting Board. This has raised concerns within the online community.

It’s worth noting that third-party Xbox products can still be used if the manufacturer has obtained the Xbox license. Brands like Razer and Turtle Beach are examples of companies that have paid for the Xbox license and offer compatible accessories.
