Iran Launches Production of “Pars-3” Satellite

The Iranian Space Organization (ISA) has announced the commencement of the production process for “Pars-3,” a state-of-the-art and highly accurate satellite. Hassan Salarieh, the head of ISA, expressed pride in this important step towards the design and production of indigenous remote sensing satellites with exceptional accuracy.

Salarieh highlighted “Pars-2” and “Pars-3” as examples of satellites that have officially entered the manufacturing stage. He specified that “Pars-2” has an imaging accuracy of four meters, while “Pars-3” boasts an accuracy of two meters.

Iran has established itself as one of the top 10 nations in satellite manufacturing and launch capabilities. The country launched its first satellite, named Omid (Hope), in 2009, followed by Rasad (Observation) in 2011. In 2012, Iran successfully launched its third homegrown satellite, Navid (Good News).

In April 2020, Iran declared the successful launch of its first military satellite and followed it up by launching a second military satellite into orbit in March 2022. Furthermore, in August of the previous year, Iran put Khayyam, a high-resolution imaging satellite, into orbit using a Soyuz 2.1 B rocket from Kazakhstan’s Baikonur Cosmodrome.

In February, Iranian experts unveiled two domestic communications and imaging satellites, Nahid-2 (Venus-2) and Tolou-3 (Sunrise-3), showcasing their scientific breakthroughs. These satellites were presented during a ceremony in Tehran held in May to celebrate Iran’s National Space Technology Day.

With the production of the “Pars-3” satellite underway, Iran continues to make strides in its indigenous space technology, solidifying its position as a capable player in the global satellite manufacturing and launch industry.
