Intel has undergone a reorganization of its global sales team for its largest OEM and cloud accounts, including Amazon Web Services and Dell Technologies. This move comes after the departure of Ryan McCurdy, the team’s leader, who joined Lenovo as its North American president. The reorganization was announced by Christoph Schell, Intel’s chief commercial officer, in a recent memo to the company’s Sales, Marketing, and Communications Group.

These changes are part of Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger’s plan to position the company as a leader in chip-making capabilities by 2025 and become a comprehensive provider of silicon, software, and services. Schell stated in the memo that the goal is to sell a system of silicon, software, and services to deliver valuable solutions to customers, partners, and the ecosystem.

As a result of McCurdy’s departure, Intel is splitting its largest customer accounts between a new group and an existing group within the Sales, Marketing, and Communications Group. The management of Dell, HP Inc., and Lenovo will move under Greg Ernst, general manager of Americas sales, while responsibilities for AWS, Microsoft, and Google will move to a new group called the Global Solutions and Services organization. This new group will be led by David Meffe.

Schell also announced the creation of a new Strategy and Development team within the Sales, Marketing, and Communications Group. This team will focus on overall go-to-market strategy and accelerating transformation with innovative business models. Intel is actively seeking a leader for this team.

Furthermore, the Global Account Marketing team will be moved under the Brand, Customer, and Sales experience team. Intel’s software business will continue to have a separate sales and marketing team, with Taher Behbehani remaining in his position as the leader of sales for Intel software and Software-as-a-Service offerings.

These changes reflect Intel’s growing focus on developing new processor technologies alongside enabling software and services. The company aims to provide valuable solutions that meet the demands of its customers and partners.
