Driving a three-wheeled Peel P50 microcar on the Nürburgring Nordschleife may seem like a foolish endeavor, but that’s exactly what driver Max Fewtrell decided to do. With the goal of setting a record for the fastest lap in a P50, Fewtrell took on the challenge, despite never having driven this tiny car or the infamous Nordschleife track before.

In order to achieve his record, Fewtrell had to rent out the entire track for an hour. The authorities granted him the final hour of the day, from 7:30 PM to 8:30 PM, to complete his lap. However, his attempt was not without hurdles. Shortly after starting, the throttle cable broke, requiring a repair that took around 20 minutes. This setback meant he had to finish the lap in under 40 minutes to achieve his goal.

With the odds stacked against him, Fewtrell embarked on a race against the clock. The video of his attempt captures the absurdity of the situation, and though the full lap is not shown, the shortened footage is still incredibly impressive. Fewtrell completed the lap in 25 minutes and 44 seconds, setting a new record for the fastest P50 lap on the Nordschleife.

While Fewtrell’s achievement is commendable, it’s not something everyone would want to replicate. However, there are those who may seek to beat this record in a sportier Peel Trident. The challenge would require renting out the Nürburgring and obtaining a Peel Trident, but the possibility of surpassing Fewtrell’s accomplishment is enticing.

Driving a microcar on a renowned track like the Nürburgring Nordschleife is undoubtedly a unique experience that pushes both the vehicle and the driver to their limits.
