NEDA Telecommunications was established in May 2003 as the first licensed ISP in Afghanistan. Starting with dial up and moving swiftly into wireless broadband services NEDA quickly established itself as the leading ISP and WISP in Afghanistan. Our operation has grown continuously and NEDA is now considered the major player in Afghanistan now carrying over 30 Mbps on our networks, with a presence in most major cities and plans to roll out still further. We offer services on 6 different satellites and are the only ISP with internet services available through wireless, VSAT, dial-up and CDMA. Our Service provision has expanded into new technologies such as Voice over IP telephony and we are even offering WiMAX provisionally in Kabul for roll out in June 2007.
We have 3 World Class satellite earth station facilities in Kabul, Jalalabad and Mazar-i-Sharif connected to one of the world's most modern and well developed satellite platforms. With coverage from Eutelsat's W5, W6 and Express AM 22 (SESAT II) satellites and 24 hour manned support from the hub in Cologne, Germany we have SCPC/DVB and SCPC/SCPC backbone connections which we have complete confidence in. Our backbone is totally secure unlike TDMA services and other VSAT services which cannot guarantee CIR/Dedicated bandwidth services. Through these satellite links Neda offers its high speed secure wireless services in Kabul, Mazar-e-Sharif and Jalalabad.
ViaSat are the third of the big three hardware manufacturers and offer some solid hardware in their Linkstar system. The Linkstar is a lower cost system with a good reputation, but has been out performed by iDirect in the market for the past few years. NEDA offers a variety of packages on this platform through our European partner from a home user package to a large office package catering for up to 40 users.
