ACORN is abbreviation of Akron Community Online Resource Network. It’s a service of the Akron-Summit County Public Library. The company started to be available to the public in 1995 as a site (at that time it was known as the Akron Regional Free-Net). The Akron was providing the communications hardware both with links for their T1 connection to the Internet & for the 16 dial-in lines.

ACORN Dial-up Access means that ACORN users could access the Internet with a web-based browser. ACORN offers three basic services to its users: Access to local information and community organizations, Internet access, Free web site hosting for non profit groups, clubs, and organizations in Summit County. There are nocharges for the Internet access.
