Global Village Telecom (GVT) is a fixed telecommunications carrier operating in the southern, mid-western and part of the northern regions of Brazil. It offers internet and data transmission services as well as national and international long distance services for residential, corporate, small and medium-size businesses. In São Paulo the company is focused exclusively on the corporate market. GVT operates a next generation network (NGN) that allows for complete integration in voice, data and image transmission. In 2014, Telefonica agreed to buy GVT from its controller, French firm Vivendi, operation that was completed on May, 2014, after getting the nod from Telefonica Brasil's general assembly. The company was founded in 1998 and is based in Curitiba, Brazil.
