Trident IoT: Simplifying RF Development and Enhancing the Security Industry

Trident IoT is a newly launched technology and engineering company that aims to simplify RF development and reduce time-to-market for connected device manufacturers. They will serve as a direct supplier of Z-Wave Technology solutions and offer product design and development consulting, UL and ETL preparation, and U.S.-based Z-Wave device certification.

The company was founded by IoT pioneers Mariusz Malkowski, Michael Lamb, and Bill Scheffler, who recognized the challenges faced by the industry due to supply chain chokepoints and the lack of access to product-specific design consultation. Trident IoT intends to address these issues by providing cost-effective solutions for wireless product development.

While Trident IoT offers consultation services for various RF technologies, their initial focus will be on the Z-Wave ecosystem. Z-Wave is the largest sub-GHz ecosystem for connected devices, known for its mesh connectivity, range, performance, reliability, security, and interoperability. Trident IoT believes that Z-Wave Long Range (LR) has significant untapped potential in the market and aims to support the development of edge-of-property devices.

Trident IoT will be a direct provider of Z-Wave chips and modules that support the latest advancements in Z-Wave technology, including Z-Wave Plus, Z-Wave Plus v.2, and Z-Wave Long Range (LR). They offer streamlined development processes and act as the supplier source, development partner, and Z-Wave certification laboratory.

As a principal member of the Z-Wave Alliance and a member of the Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA), the Bluetooth Special Interest Group, and the LoRa Alliance, Trident IoT is well-positioned to advance the security industry. Their focus on next-gen Z-Wave technologies and certification will benefit access control device manufacturers seeking to bring edge-of-property devices to the market.

Trident IoT founders envision Z-Wave LR as an underexploited technology in the security space, particularly in managing security across large properties such as commercial, hospitality, and private estates. By utilizing a unified, secure sub-GHz wireless network, Trident IoT aims to accelerate the development and release of new products in the security industry.

Z-Wave is also the leading technology in the smart home security market. Security dealers regularly install Z-Wave security systems and accessories, making it a dominant player in the industry.

Trident IoT is actively seeking certification for other platforms, including popular programs like Works With.
