St. Tammany Parish Launches New Emergency Preparedness System

Officials in St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana, have introduced a new emergency preparedness system called St. Tammany Alert Telecommunications (STAT). This enhanced system aims to provide residents with alerts about potential dangers and threats to life, such as hurricanes, severe weather, and extreme flooding. The previous system, “Alerts! St. Tammany,” has been replaced by this new program.

St. Tammany Parish Parish President, Mike Cooper, emphasized the importance of accurate information during times of crisis. The STAT system enables targeted notifications to be sent directly to citizens through texts, calls, and emails, ensuring that residents are well-informed and prepared for emergency situations.

The new system offers flexibility for residents to receive alerts for specific events through text messages, emails, or phone calls. To sign up for these alerts, residents have two options. They can visit the St. Tammany Parish website or download the Everbridge app and select “enroll.” After entering their zip code, they should select “STAT” and create their account.

In addition to notifications about hurricanes and severe weather, STAT will also send alerts regarding boil water advisories, road closures, and heat advisories.

Residents of St. Tammany Parish now have access to a more advanced emergency preparedness system that will help them stay informed and take necessary precautions during times of crisis. The launch of the STAT program demonstrates the parish’s commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of its residents.
