SpaceX Falcon 9 Starlink Launch Scheduled for August 22nd

SpaceX teams at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida are preparing for the launch of a Falcon 9 rocket carrying the company’s Starlink internet satellites. This launch is scheduled to be the 43rd of the year for the Space Coast.

The launch is set to take place on Tuesday, August 22nd, with a four-hour launch window starting at 8:47 p.m. EDT. If necessary, there are backup launch opportunities available 24 hours later. Weather conditions for the launch are currently favorable, with an 85% chance of “go” during the launch window.

The payload for this mission is the next batch of Starlink satellites, which will be deployed into orbit by the 230-foot Falcon 9 rocket. The trajectory of the rocket will take it between Florida and the Bahamas.

Notably, this launch is not expected to generate any sonic booms in the local area. The first-stage booster of the Falcon 9 rocket will attempt a landing on a drone ship approximately eight minutes after liftoff.

Looking ahead, the next SpaceX launch from Florida is scheduled for August 25th. This mission, known as NASA’s SpaceX Crew-7, will transport astronauts to the International Space Station for a six-month science mission.
