Samsung Galaxy S24 Line May Introduce Satellite Communications Feature

The upcoming Samsung Galaxy S24 line may feature satellite communications, according to an executive from the South Korean tech giant. Park Yong-In, the head of Samsung Electronics’ System LSI Business Division, mentioned the possibility at the 2023 Semiconductor Exhibition (SEDEX). He stated that technical preparations have already been made, although no specific model was mentioned.

While it is expected that the flagship series will be the first to be equipped with this new technology, it is uncertain if all models within the Samsung Galaxy S24 line will receive the feature. There is a chance that it may only be available on the Ultra model, or it could be excluded from the Ultra model entirely.

Rumors suggest that the Samsung Galaxy S24 line will have both Snapdragon and Exynos models. Samsung is also developing its own Exynos 5300 modems that support satellite communications. However, it is still several months away from a potential Samsung Unpacked event, where further official announcements may be made.

The introduction of satellite communications to mainstream smartphones is a significant development. The iPhone 14 line has already incorporated this feature, and Qualcomm has announced Snapdragon Satellite for Android phones. With Samsung potentially joining the trend, more users will have access to satellite communications on their smartphones, which can be particularly useful in areas with limited network coverage or during emergency situations.

Overall, the inclusion of satellite communications in the Samsung Galaxy S24 line would be a notable addition to the device’s capabilities. As we await further updates, it remains to be seen how Samsung will implement this feature and which models will benefit from it.
