Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, and Vodafone Idea to Expand Workforce Due to 5G and 4G Growth

Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, and Vodafone Idea are expected to increase their combined workforce by up to 25 percent by the end of March 2024, according to a report by The Economic Times (ET). This growth is driven by the launch of 5G services and the expansion of 4G networks.

Sekhar Garisa, the CEO of recruitment company FoundIt, highlighted that 5G is a major driver of job growth in the telecommunications industry.

According to the newspaper, staff levels at these companies grew by 35 percent between April 2023 and March 2024, reversing the declines observed in the previous year.

The ET report mentioned that Jio had a headcount of 95,300 employees, Bharti Airtel had 64,400, and Vodafone Idea had 15,600 employees as of the end of March.

Jio has successfully completed the nationwide rollout of its 5G services across multiple spectrum bands ahead of its target date of December. At the end of July, ET estimated that Jio’s 5G coverage reached 6,258 cities and towns, while Bharti Airtel covered over 5,000 cities. The report also stated that Jio had 254,000 5G base stations, and Airtel had 60,000.

Vodafone Idea’s CEO, Akshaya Moondra, mentioned in earnings documents that the company is in talks with various network vendors to finalize its 5G rollout strategy.

Overall, the expansion of 5G and 4G networks is driving the need for additional manpower in Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, and Vodafone Idea. These telecom companies are projected to grow their workforce in the coming years to meet the demands of the evolving technology.
