Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Jio to Launch Satellite Broadband Service

Akash Ambani, son of Mukesh Ambani and chairman of Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited, has demonstrated the upcoming satellite-based internet service, JioSpaceFiber, to India’s Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. Reliance Jio, owned by Mukesh Ambani, has already transformed internet access in India by providing fast speeds across the country. To extend connectivity to remote areas, the company has launched Reliance Jio AirFiber, and now it is preparing to launch a satellite broadband service similar to Elon Musk’s Starlink.

JioSpaceFiber will be India’s first satellite-based giga fiber service, addressing the challenge of providing high-speed broadband services to previously inaccessible areas within the country. Akash Ambani emphasized that JioSpaceFiber aims to connect millions of homes and businesses, enabling them to fully participate in the digital society by offering gigabit access to online government, education, health, and entertainment services.

Reliance Jio is partnering with SES, a global satellite operator, to utilize the latest medium earth orbit (MEO) satellite technology. By gaining access to SES’s O3b and new O3b mPOWER satellites, Reliance Jio will be able to offer scalable and affordable broadband services across India, guaranteeing reliability and service flexibility that is unprecedented in the industry.

The launch of JioSpaceFiber marks another significant step in Mukesh Ambani’s efforts to provide widespread access to the internet in India. With its revolutionary approach to connectivity, Reliance Jio continues to redefine the digital landscape of the country, bridging the digital divide and opening up opportunities for millions of people.
