Instagram Tests Collaborative Feature Allowing Friends to Add Photos to Your Posts

Instagram, which is owned by Meta, is currently testing a new collaborative feature that allows friends to add photos to your posts. Adam Mosseri, the head of Instagram, recently announced this development on his broadcast channel. The feature will enable users to invite their followers to submit photos and videos to include in their carousel posts.

Prior to posting the photos on their profile, Instagram users will have the option to allow their followers to submit their own visuals. However, the submissions will not be automatically added to the posts. Users will need to approve each photo and video before they are included.

In a screenshot shared by Mosseri, a new button called “add to post” is visible on the bottom-left corner of the feature. This button serves as a prompt for users to include submitted content in their posts.

In addition to this collaborative feature, Instagram is also testing another update that allows users to update their profile picture with a short or looping video in Notes. Mosseri mentioned that users will be able to share a thought via text alongside the video. The update will introduce a new camera icon on the profile picture that users can tap on to record a video to post on Notes.

This new collaborative feature on Instagram is a great way for users to engage with their followers and showcase user-generated content. The addition of a looping video as a profile picture also adds a dynamic and creative element to user profiles.

Definitions:
