Gotonomi Launches Low SWaP Satellite Terminals for UAVs at Commercial UAV Expo

Technology developer TTP plc has announced the launch of Gotonomi at the upcoming Commercial UAV Expo in Las Vegas. Gotonomi will provide low size, weight, and power satellite terminals as flight trial development kits for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). These terminals will be compatible with Viasat’s Velaris global connectivity solution and have been developed as part of the Iris air traffic modernization program led by the European Space Agency (ESA) and powered by Viasat’s ELERA satellite network.

Velaris enables secure communications for commercial UAVs to fly beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) and seamlessly integrate with aircraft in commercial airspace. By connecting to the Velaris service, Gotonomi’s terminals will offer a 200kbps secure datalink between vehicles, remote operators, and UAV Traffic Management (UTM) systems. Users can choose from three initial variants: Velaris 200 (fully integrated antenna), Velaris Module (core module), and Velaris Multi-link Module (core module with LTE hybrid terminal and edge compute).

The hybrid connectivity of Gotonomi’s terminals allows users to benefit from low latency, high-speed 4G communications, backed by a resilient satellite connection nearly anywhere on the planet. This provides seamless connectivity through intelligent data routing.

Gotonomi aims to play a key role in developing safety products and services for autonomous and remotely piloted vehicles in various domains. This includes systems for detect and avoid (DAA), which are crucial for safe UAV operation in commercial airspace.

Gotonomi’s mission is to enable always-on connectivity for autonomous and remotely piloted vehicles, making safe and scalable beyond visual line of sight operations a reality. Their technology brings satellite and cellular connectivity to smaller and lighter-weight UAVs, enabling command and control for BVLOS safety, telemetry, data services, voice, and video streaming.
