Eutelsat Successfully Launches EUTELSAT KONNECT VHTS Satellite

Eutelsat Communications has announced the successful entry into service of its advanced EUTELSAT KONNECT VHTS Satellite at the 2.7°E orbital position. Developed by Thales Alenia Space, the satellite offers very high throughput and will provide fixed, mobile, and government connectivity across Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East.

The EUTELSAT KONNECT VHTS Satellite is the largest geostationary satellite in Europe to date, delivering 230 beams and boasting a Ka-band capacity of 500 Gbps. It incorporates the most powerful on-board digital processor ever put in orbit and offers flexibility in capacity allocation, optimal spectrum use, and progressive ground network deployment.

This state-of-the-art satellite, with seven times the capacity of its predecessor, has already attracted several major customers, including Orange, Telecom Italia Mobile, and Thales Alenia Space. These commitments, totaling approximately €450m, are expected to contribute to Eutelsat Group’s revenue growth objectives in the coming years.

Eva Berneke, Eutelsat Group CEO, stated that the entry into service of the EUTELSAT KONNECT VHTS Satellite marks an important milestone for the Group. She emphasized the company’s leadership in innovation and commitment to bridging the digital divide in Europe. The ability of the satellite to accommodate joint GEO-LEO services, especially in areas with high demand, is highlighted as a key asset in Eutelsat Group’s future offerings.

Eutelsat Group is a leading global satellite communications company, delivering connectivity and broadcast services worldwide. Formed through the merger of Eutelsat and OneWeb, the company operates a fleet of 36 Geostationary satellites and a Low Earth Orbit constellation of over 600 satellites. With a focus on video, mobile connectivity, fixed connectivity, and government services, Eutelsat Group aims to meet the needs of customers in these key areas. The company is committed to delivering safe, resilient, and environmentally sustainable connectivity and is listed on the Euronext Paris Stock Exchange and the London Stock Exchange.
