Canada’s MDA Selects SpaceX for Launch of Next-Generation Satellite Constellation

Canada’s MDA Ltd has chosen SpaceX, led by Elon Musk, as the launch service provider for its upcoming satellite constellation called CHORUS. CHORUS is designed for Earth observation and will consist of a group of artificial satellites working together as a system.

The launch of MDA’s satellite constellation is scheduled to take place in the fourth quarter of 2025, with SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket being used for the launch. The rocket will be launched from Florida.

MDA CEO, Mike Greenley, expressed his excitement about working with SpaceX again, noting that the production of CHORUS is already in progress. MDA has a previous working relationship with SpaceX, as it was the company’s first private customer for a commercial mission using the Falcon 9 rocket around ten years ago. During that mission, Canadian commercial and scientific satellites were successfully carried into space.

This collaboration between MDA and SpaceX highlights the continued growth and advancement of the space technology industry. By leveraging SpaceX’s launch capabilities, MDA aims to further enhance its Earth observation capabilities with the CHORUS satellite constellation.
