Thousands of people interested in the UK space industry had the opportunity to learn more about rocket-building and spaceflight activities at the ‘Space for Everyone’ event in Aberdeen. Orbex, a satellite launcher based in Forres Enterprise Park, participated in the event to provide insight and information about their operations.

During the event, Orbex handed out 1250 activity books to children and adults and engaged in conversations with numerous attendees. Martin Coates, CEO of Orbex, expressed his enthusiasm about the event, stating that it was great to meet so many people who share a passion for space and rockets. He hopes that the event has inspired young minds to explore the space industry further.

Space for Everyone is a nationwide tour that aims to showcase the UK’s space sector and career opportunities. Orbex’s participation in the event was specifically targeted at generating interest among locals, especially the younger generation. They displayed their Prime rocket, launch platform, and test site in Kinloss, as well as their Sutherland Spaceport.

In addition to Orbex, the Aberdeen Science Centre also contributed to the event by sharing space-related items such as a small satellite, a piece of the Moon, and 4D space cards with images of the solar system, rockets, and rovers. They also provided visitors with the opportunity to design their own paper rockets and experience hands-on activities with a gyro wheel and infrared camera.

Orbex also highlighted the various job opportunities available in Forres, including roles in design, engineering, law, and management. They emphasized that there are currently many technical and commercial positions open in the space industry.
