Space & Satellite Professionals International (SSPI) has revealed the winners of its ninth annual Better Satellite World Awards. These awards recognize both established companies and disruptive innovators who contribute to a more prosperous, healthier, better-educated, sustainable, and inclusive world.

The recipients chosen by an international jury include Avanti Communications for their Rural Connectivity Solution, International Rescue Committee (IRC) for their Mapping Invisible Populations project (in partnership with Flowminder and Humanitarian Open Streetmap), and Maxar’s News Bureau.

These awardees will be honored at the Better Satellite World Awards Dinner on December 4th in London, alongside the SSPI UK chapter’s Personality of the Year, Massimiliano Ladovaz, CEO of Eutelsat Group. The jury consisted of industry thought leaders and distinguished professionals from around the world.

According to Louis Zacharilla, Director of Innovation at SSPI, the 2023 Better Satellite World Awards emphasize the significant impact satellites have on society. Satellites play a vital role globally, both seen and unseen, in improving the lives of people. The committee recognized the accelerated efforts to provide connectivity to communities to ensure cultural preservation, local economic stability, and future readiness. They also acknowledged the satellite industry’s technical capability to observe war zones and validate information within the “fog of war.”

The Better Satellite World Awards Dinner is a networking event and dinner that will take place on December 4th at Whitehall Place. The event is organized by SSPI and its UK Chapter, led by Betty Azzarelli, CEO and Founder of AB5 Consulting.
