Satellite Surveillance to Monitor Crop Residue Burning in Itawa

Satellite surveillance is being used to monitor farmers who are burning crop residue in Itawa. There have been 29 cases of crop residue burning detected through satellite data. The highest number of cases were reported in Sadar Tehsil with 11, followed by 8 cases in Saifai, 3 in Bharthana, 2 in Jaswantnagar, and 4 in Taka Tehsil. Notices have been issued to all the farmers involved in crop residue burning. The process of collecting fines from 18 farmers has also begun, with fines of Rs. 10,000 already collected from 4 farmers.

Despite the warnings and cautionary measures by the agricultural department and district administration, crop residue burning is still prevalent on a large scale in Itawa. It is evident that these cases are being taken seriously.

Crop residue burning is a major environmental issue that contributes to air pollution and has negative effects on public health. It also leads to the loss of essential nutrients in the soil. The use of satellite surveillance will help in identifying the areas where crop residue burning is taking place and enable authorities to take appropriate action to mitigate this issue.

In addition to satellite surveillance, it is important for the government to educate farmers about the harmful effects of crop residue burning and provide them with alternative methods of disposing crop residue. This can include promoting the use of machinery that can shred the crop residue into the soil, which helps in increasing soil fertility and reduces the need for burning.

Efforts should also be made to provide financial incentives to farmers who adopt alternative methods of crop residue management. This will encourage them to switch to more sustainable farming practices and reduce the practice of crop residue burning.

In conclusion, satellite surveillance is being used to monitor crop residue burning in Itawa. The authorities are taking strict action against the farmers involved in this practice. However, there is a need for continuous awareness and support from the government to promote sustainable farming practices and reduce crop residue burning.
