Satellite OPD to be Set up at Sankhali PHC for AYUSH & Goa Medical College Hospital

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has announced the establishment of a satellite Outpatient Department (OPD) for AYUSH and Goa Medical College Hospital at Sankhali Primary Health Centre (PHC). The OPD will operate twice a week to provide specialized care to patients.

The Goa government has recognized the need for specialized care and has implemented a streamlined process to fulfill this demand. Chief Minister Sawant emphasized that the comprehensive approach at this center will ensure personalized attention and the best possible care for all patients.

Currently, Goa Medical College Hospital handles around 19,000 OPD cases and 4,300 deliveries every year. In response to the demand for infertility treatment, the government has taken a step forward to meet the needs of this specific segment of the population.

Furthermore, Chief Minister Sawant has assured post-graduate nurses in the field that the government will review their salaries soon, acknowledging their contributions to healthcare.

Health Minister Vishwajit Rane expressed concern over the high charges that residents of Goa have to pay for treatments in other states. He stated that the planned hospital would not charge any fees for in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatment, and the funds for this service would be raised through corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives.

This initiative to establish a satellite OPD at Sankhali PHC is a significant step towards improving healthcare access and providing specialized care to the people of Goa.
