Quartet Ties for Lead at ISPS Handa World Invitational in Northern Ireland

A quartet of players – Gabriella Cowley, Ellinor Sudow, Kim Metraux, and Karis Davidson – shot opening rounds of 69 to tie for the lead at the ISPS Handa World Invitational in Antrim, Northern Ireland. They finished the round at 4-under par, with a four-player group tied for fifth place just one stroke behind. The tournament is being held at the Castlerock Golf Club, a par-73 course.

The field is split between Castlerock Golf Club and the Galgorm Castle Golf Club for the first two days of play. Marissa Steen of the United States shot the lowest round of the day, a 70, at Galgorm and is currently tied for ninth place at 2-under. The players will switch courses on Friday, with the final two rounds taking place at Galgorm Castle over the weekend.

Leona Maguire of Ireland, ranked No. 14 in the world, is the highest-ranked player in the tournament. She shot a 73 at Castlerock on Friday and is four shots off the lead. Defending champion Maja Stark of Sweden is not participating in this year’s event.

Both Sudow and Davidson expressed their excitement about being co-leaders heading into Friday’s play. Sudow had a strong finish with three birdies in the final four holes, while Davidson was happy to see her name at the top of the leaderboard after a tough LPGA season. They are both looking forward to playing at Galgorm Castle, with Davidson noting that the course is playing soft and she can be more aggressive with her shots.

In addition to the quartet at the top, there is a four-way tie for the fifth spot, consisting of Dani Holmqvist, Bronte Law, Anne-Charlotte Mora, and Chloe Williams. Steen is two strokes behind the co-leaders, along with Wichanee Meechai, Patricia Isabel Schmidt, and Moa Folke.
