Hughes Managed LEO Services Available to Federal Government Agencies

Hughes Network Systems, LLC (HUGHES), a subsidiary of EchoStar company (Nasdaq: SATS), has been awarded a five-year, Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract by the U.S. Space Force. The contract, valued at up to 0 million, allows U.S. Department of Defense, federal agencies, and international coalition partners to procure fully managed low-latency satellite-based services from Hughes using two constellations: OneWeb and EchoStar Lyra™.

This IDIQ contract offers government and defense agencies the opportunity to explore the benefits of low Earth orbit (LEO) services in delivering capabilities to the warfighter at a faster rate and lower cost. Hughes is proud to provide two compelling solutions – its OneWeb offering with a low-power, lightweight, flat panel antenna, and the next-generation EchoStar Lyra S-band IoT system. These solutions deliver robust and resilient low-latency connectivity to customers in the DoD and federal government at a competitive price.

Under this contract, Hughes will provide managed, wideband LEO services to the DoD through its distribution agreement with OneWeb Technologies Inc., a subsidiary of OneWeb. Additionally, narrowband services over the EchoStar Lyra constellation will be available. EchoStar, the parent company of Hughes, is developing the Lyra system for Internet of Things (IoT) connectivity, including 5G non-terrestrial networks (NTN).

These LEO capabilities offer cost-effective solutions and enhance reliability and resiliency in satellite communications across all domains for the DoD. Hughes is excited to address upcoming requirements for the procurement of these services.
