Google Working on Satellite Connectivity Feature for Android 14

Based on recent information, Google is reportedly working on adding support for satellite connectivity in their upcoming Android 14 release. The feature is already hinted at in the Google Messages app, indicating that it may debut soon.

Although satellite connectivity is now visible in Google Messages, the functionality is not currently available. Currently, no other messaging app has this feature, as the API for satellite connectivity is not yet available for implementation.

The addition of satellite connectivity in Google Messages suggests that other Android devices may receive this functionality in the future. This feature will enable users to send text messages using satellite connectivity when cellular networks are unreliable or unavailable.

It should be noted that the support for satellite connectivity requires both software and hardware compatibility. At present, the iPhone 14 series is the only device officially supporting this feature. However, it is expected that many Android devices will introduce satellite connectivity support starting next year.

Users eagerly awaiting this feature will need to wait for the release of Android 14. Once the necessary APIs are made available to OEMs and messaging app developers, the feature will become more widely accessible.
