Palo Alto Networks CEO Nikesh Arora emphasized the importance of modernized cybersecurity systems in protecting companies from hackers who are becoming faster and more skilled. Arora stated that companies need to be prepared to deflect cyber threats within hours rather than days.

Arora pointed out that the problem lies not in the lack of cybersecurity vendors but in the complexity of companies’ security infrastructure, which may include outdated vendors. He emphasized the need for a two- to three-year roadmap to modernize these systems and integrate them into an AI stack for real-time defense. Hackers can now breach systems within hours, unlike before when it took days.

Arora stressed that companies should prioritize modernization, which doesn’t necessarily mean spending more money but spending it wisely. He highlighted the new guidelines by the Securities and Exchange Commission, requiring companies to report a “material” security breach within four days. Notable companies like Freeport-McMoRan, Estee Lauder, and Clorox have recently experienced cybersecurity breaches.

To avoid being exposed and reporting breaches to the SEC without a solution in place, Arora suggested that customers should be able to rectify these issues more rapidly. Palo Alto Networks’ stock rose nearly 15% following an earnings report that showed a 26% increase in revenue compared to the previous year.
