The second annual “Best of the Best Readers’ Choice” contest is back for 2023. This digital-based contest is sponsored by the Morning Journal, The Review, and the Salem News. Nominations are now open and will run until August 20.

The contest has expanded this year to provide even more visibility to local businesses and organizations by moving online. With internet access, anyone can participate in the nomination and voting process. It is convenient for people in the community who prefer using their phones, tablets, or computers to select their favorite businesses and organizations.

Readers have the opportunity to nominate their favorite local businesses in 136 categories. The nomination period will continue until August 20. Once the nomination phase is over, the businesses in each category will move on to the voting phase. Readers will be able to vote online for their favorite businesses from October 21-28.

Last year’s nominated businesses have been pre-seeded for the first round of voting, giving them an advantage in this year’s contest. The winners of the “Best of the Best” contest, as well as the top two finalists in each category, will be announced in a special publication in the Morning Journal, The Review, and Salem News in December.

In the 2022 contest, a total of 60,155 votes were cast over eight days to determine the winners. This year, the organizers hope to see even more participation from the community. To ensure eligibility, a list of zip codes for the geographic area surrounding and including Columbiana County is provided on the contest website.

The websites have a dedicated “Best of the Best” contest button on their homepages for easy access.
