SwitchBot has unveiled its latest innovation, the Curtain 3, a smart curtain controller that boasts enhanced capabilities compared to its predecessor, the Curtain 2. The company claims that the Curtain 3 is not only quieter but also twice as strong. Furthermore, SwitchBot has introduced an upgraded solar panel that promises “true unlimited battery power,” a feature that was lacking in the previous version.

The Curtain 3, the third iteration of SwitchBot’s smart curtain controller, is capable of pulling curtains weighing up to 36 pounds (16kg), which is more than double the weight limit of the Curtain 2. Utilizing Bluetooth Low Energy technology, the Curtain 3 has a range of up to 80m (262ft) in direct line of sight.

In terms of design, the Curtain 3 closely resembles its predecessors but is now longer by 30mm and slimmer than the Curtain 2. It is compatible with various types of curtain rods and supports rod rail, U rail, and I rail configurations, making it suitable for almost all curtain tracks worldwide.

SwitchBot has also introduced the SwitchBot Solar Panel 3, which offers improved charging efficiency and can eliminate the need for charging the Curtain 3 with just three hours of exposure to direct sunlight. However, the battery life of the Curtain 3 remains the same, lasting up to 8 months on a full charge.

For enhanced compatibility, SwitchBot has released the SwitchBot Hub 2, priced at , which serves as a Matter bridge and enables Apple Home compatibility for the Curtain 3 and other Bluetooth devices. Without the updated hub, the Curtain 3 is compatible with Samsung SmartThings, Google Home, and Amazon Alexa. Additionally, Apple Shortcuts can be used to trigger actions with Siri.

SwitchBot is renowned for its user-friendly smart home retrofits, such as its smart lock motor and button-pressing robot, which make it easy for users to upgrade their homes with smart technology.
