Netflix has released the first trailer for Rebel Moon, Zack Snyder’s highly anticipated space epic. While the film has drawn comparisons to Star Wars, it actually seems to have more in common with Dune. The spaceships, for instance, resemble the grand vessels of Dune rather than the sleek starfighters of Star Wars. Moreover, the film appears to follow a Dune-like narrative of a prophesied hero taking on an evil space empire, albeit with a king instead of an emperor.

Despite these similarities, Rebel Moon still promises to be an impressive space adventure. Known for his visually stunning yet artful imagery, Zack Snyder showcases explosions, cool poses, and warriors charging into battle with their red laser swords. Blaster guns shooting lasers are also featured, along with some intriguing elements like a pegasus. The film seems to offer a lot of exciting content, with two Rebel Moon movies planned and even a Snyder Cut of each with additional explicit content.

Rebel Moon Part 1: A Child Of Fire is set to premiere on Netflix on December 22, followed by Rebel Moon Part 2: The Scargiver on April 19, 2024. The star-studded cast includes Sofia Boutella, Djimon Hounsou, Ed Skrein, Michiel Huisman, Doona Bae, Ray Fisher, Charlie Hunnam, and Anthony Hopkins, who portrays a robot named Jimmy.
