A man from Midwest City has been arrested and is facing charges of aggravated possession of child pornography, according to court documents from Oklahoma County District Court. The suspect, Robert Alger, 69, was apprehended after it was revealed that he had hundreds of photos and videos of child pornography on his phone.

The investigation was initiated after an organization called Predator Poachers contacted the Midwest City Police Department with their findings. Predator Poachers had set up a sting operation using a female decoy who posed as an 11-year-old on Facebook. Alger had been engaging in explicit conversations with the decoy since July 6, 2023, which eventually became sexually graphic. Allegedly, Alger even engaged in video chats with the decoy.

During an interview with the police at his workplace, Alger initially admitted to communicating with the decoy, claiming that he believed he was talking to a 25-year-old woman. However, when confronted with evidence in the form of pictures of the explicit messages, Alger confessed that it was indeed him conversing with the supposed 11-year-old.

Based on the conversation records, Alger was charged with using a telecommunication device to solicit sex from a minor. A search warrant was obtained, allowing the extraction of data from his phone. The search revealed approximately 500 photos and 500 videos of child pornography.

The arrest and subsequent charges highlight the seriousness of child exploitation offenses. Authorities are working diligently to investigate and prosecute individuals involved in the production, possession, and distribution of child pornography to ensure the safety and welfare of minors.
