Donations Support Construction of New Salvation Army Community Center in Petoskey

The Salvation Army of Petoskey has recently received generous donations and grants to aid in the much-needed repairs, updates, and renovations for their new Regional Community Center. This new center will serve as the central hub for all Salvation Army programs and services in Emmet, Charlevoix, and Antrim counties.

The facility will offer emergency financial assistance for utilities and other essential human needs, such as food and shelter. It will also provide various programs for child, senior, and family self-sufficiency, addiction recovery support, holiday assistance, and more.

To support the renovations, the Frey Foundation has granted ,000, the Charlevoix County Community Foundation has contributed ,000, and the Oleson Foundation has generously awarded ,000. Additionally, Huntington Bank has donated ,000 to enhance the telecommunications system, improving communication and efficiency for clients seeking assistance.

Individual donors have targeted specific areas of the project, including a commercial kitchen donated by Susie and John Graff in John’s memory and a children’s playground donated by Neil and Marsha Bidwell. Others have chosen to contribute to various parts of the endeavor, such as the Mugwump Foundation, David and Teresa Crouse, Dave and Barbara Young, Dr. Louis and Mary Jane Zako, Meyer Ace, Petoskey Rotary Sunrise, and numerous anonymous supporters.

The renovation and expansion of vital programs and services are especially crucial considering the growing number of families in need. Roman Hank, Corps Administrator, expressed gratitude, stating, “The new Regional Community Center will allow us to continue meeting the needs of struggling families for years to come.”

While the Salvation Army has received substantial support, they are still working towards their fundraising goal of 7,000. Contributions from the community are greatly appreciated and can be made by contacting (231) 347-3531 or visiting SAPetoskey.org.
