Arvig Receives Grant to Expand High-Speed Internet Access in Rural Wright County

Arvig, a telecommunications company, has been granted 9,747 from Minnesota’s Border to Border Broadband program. The grant will be used to invest in a fiber-to-the-premises project that aims to expand high-speed internet access in rural Wright County.

The project will focus on providing last-mile fiber network service to 256 unserved and underserved structures in parts of rural Wright County. This expansion will offer residents internet speeds ranging from 100Mbps to 10Gbps, exceeding Minnesota’s state speed goal for 2026.

David Arvig, Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Arvig, emphasized the importance of improving internet access and bandwidth in rural areas. He expressed confidence that this fiber expansion will serve Wright County residents reliably for years to come.

The estimated total cost of the network project is .75 million. Arvig will contribute 9,873 towards the project, and Wright County will match this amount with their own local funding.

Construction for the project will commence after receiving the grant and completing the necessary environmental reviews. The goal is to complete the project by December 2025, ensuring that residents in rural Wright County have improved access to high-speed internet.

Overall, Arvig’s investment in this fiber-to-the-premises project will significantly contribute to bridging the digital divide in rural areas, empowering individuals and businesses with faster and more reliable internet connectivity.
